Folk music grows its roots
And makes its home buried deep
Within my bones
The ghosts of my fathers
Drum out a beat and
I match my heart to it
The ghosts of my mothers
Dance in blurs of color
Tradition swirls within my blood
I’m a long way from home but
Hereditary music never really leaves you
