Burden of the Beast -- 30 January 2020


You think you know anger
But your anger is merely child’s play
A tantrum to get your way
You’ve never had to hold your tongue
Keep your composure and let the beast fester
Hold the screams inside until suddenly it all
Finally stops and I’m marinating in quiet disdain
Fan the fires until it goes cold
But what do I know of anger?
I’m just another frigid bitch

That I’ve ever received, but now
I’m too afraid to say the words
“I love you”
Not because I’m afraid you
Won’t say them back
But rather that someday
You might turn and use them against me,
Weaponize the truth
And in one last fit of desperation
You’d turn to me and
“Make the last line hurt”
